Katie Marquand
Katie graduated with an MEng in Computer Science from the University of Bristol before pursuing wet lab experience during an MScR in Neuroscience, also in Bristol. She then pursued her PhD at Trinity College Dublin under the supervision of Dr Tamara Boto and Prof Mani Ramaswami where she discovered her love of Drosophila research while studying the dopaminergic modulation of olfactory circuits. Katie's main scientific interests are in sensory perception and how this perception can change under different conditions. She joined the Arguello lab in 2026 to investigate the evolution of temperature preference across different Drosophila species. Outside the lab, she is a reluctant runner, experimental home cook, and lover of quirky pubs.
